A 9 year span could cost you as much as $27,000! Let's dive into the life of a hearing aid, and then look at what you can do to save A Lot of Money long term.
The Life of a Hearing Aid
A hearing aid typically lasts between 3 to 6 years, depending on various factors such as quality, maintenance, and usage. Here’s what happens throughout its lifespan:
-
Initial Fit & Adjustment (First Few Months)
-
After getting a hearing aid, a Provider fine-tunes it to match your hearing needs.
-
You go through an adjustment period to get used to the amplified sounds.
-
-
Peak Performance (1-3 Years)
-
The hearing aid functions optimally, providing clear sound and helping you communicate effectively.
-
Routine maintenance, such as cleaning and battery replacement keeps it in top shape.
-
-
Gradual Wear & Tear (2-4 Years)
-
Daily exposure to moisture, dust, and earwax starts to affect performance.
-
You may notice minor sound distortions, reduced battery life, or connectivity issues with wireless features.
-
-
End of Life (3-6 Years or Beyond)
-
Technology becomes outdated, and your hearing needs may change.
-
Mechanical and electronic components may degrade, causing frequent repairs or unreliable sound quality.
-
Newer models with improved technology become available, making an upgrade a practical choice.
-

It's important to follow up with your Hearing Provider on a regular basis, and it's just as important to have an outstanding warranty with your purchase. This not only gives peace of mind that you will have hearing aid support, but knowing you will get the best benefits from your hearing aids for their entire life cycle.

We recommend visits with your Provider no later than every 4 months (3x per year) A Provider that offers all inclusive service for the duration of the warranty is critical to keeping your investment secure. After all, it is an investment in your hearing and quality of life. A service plan is highly recommended for those that have utilized their insurance plan in a "managed care" situation where long term follow up care is not included with the benefit utilized.
